Especialista certificada en vida infantil y enlace de confianza en campamentos.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Durante el Mes de la Vida Infantil, queremos reconocer el diligente trabajo de Bethany, nuestra Especialista Certificada en Vida Infantil que sirve como nuestro Enlace de Campamento con el Children's Hospital Colorado.<\/p>\n

\u201cEl incre\u00edble trabajo que realiza Bethany es fundamental para nuestro \u00e9xito. Es un salvavidas para las familias y el personal del Children's Hospital Colorado. Para cientos de nuestras familias de campistas, Bethany es su primer punto de contacto: es la voz amable en el tel\u00e9fono y la cara sonriente en el registro del autob\u00fas. Hace que el duro trabajo que realiza parezca f\u00e1cil gracias a su dedicaci\u00f3n a nuestra misi\u00f3n y, sobre todo, a las familias de nuestros campistas. A Bethany siempre le ha gustado trabajar con ni\u00f1os y, cuando era peque\u00f1a, pensaba que quer\u00eda ser profesora. Luego, a medida que crec\u00eda, se dio cuenta de que tambi\u00e9n le encantaba la ciencia y los sistemas del cuerpo humano.<\/p>\n

Empez\u00f3 la universidad con la mente abierta para su futura carrera. En cuanto Bethany oy\u00f3 hablar de la vida infantil, supo que eso era lo que quer\u00eda hacer.<\/p>\n

\u201cCuando o\u00ed hablar del campo de la vida infantil a un amigo de la residencia, me dije: eso suena como todas las cosas que me gustan, el cuerpo, la medicina y trabajar con ni\u00f1os, combinadas en una carrera\u201d.\u201d <\/em><\/strong>dijo Bethany.<\/p>\n

Ese mismo d\u00eda declar\u00f3 su especializaci\u00f3n y el resto fue historia. En un momento de sus pr\u00e1cticas, recuerda que llam\u00f3 a su madre y le dijo \u201cEsto es... esto me va como anillo al dedo\u201d.\u201d\"woman
\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bethany empez\u00f3 a trabajar en el Children's Hospital Colorado como asistente m\u00e9dica hasta que qued\u00f3 disponible un puesto en el \u00e1rea de vida infantil. Ahora lleva 25 a\u00f1os en Children's. Lo que m\u00e1s le gusta de la vida infantil es,\u00a0\u201cS\u00f3lo saber el peque\u00f1o papel que juegas en este gran cuadro que puede tener un impacto tan positivo en futuras hospitalizaciones y afrontamientos\u201d.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Los especialistas en vida infantil ayudan a minimizar el estr\u00e9s de los ni\u00f1os y sus familias mientras est\u00e1n en el hospital y ayudan a los ni\u00f1os a afrontarlo de forma positiva, lo que tiene un impacto duradero en los ni\u00f1os y sus familias, sea cual sea su situaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Hace unos 10 a\u00f1os, se abri\u00f3 el puesto de enlace de campamentos en Roundup River Ranch y se dio cuenta de que era la siguiente oportunidad que le encantar\u00eda aprovechar. Como ni\u00f1a que creci\u00f3 en un pueblo peque\u00f1o, le encantaba ir de campamento y conocer a mucha gente diferente. Especialmente en un entorno m\u00e9dico, Bethany reconoci\u00f3 que los ni\u00f1os con enfermedades graves pueden sentirse aislados debido a sus condiciones m\u00e9dicas.<\/p>\n

\u201cMuchas veces la gente piensa en el campamento en el contexto de una experiencia divertida para ni\u00f1os sanos, pero no se dan cuenta del impacto de por vida que tiene, especialmente para los ni\u00f1os con condiciones m\u00e9dicas - la importancia de la diversi\u00f3n y la normalidad, la conexi\u00f3n social con los ni\u00f1os que viven a trav\u00e9s de experiencias de salud similares y el crecimiento que viene con desafiarse a s\u00ed mismo y lograr en un ambiente seguro.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a1Ahora en su papel con Roundup River Ranch, Bethany pasa su tiempo difundiendo la palabra sobre el campamento! Desde llegar a los cuidadores de los pacientes, a hacer presentaciones sobre el campamento, a ayudar a los cuidadores a trav\u00e9s del proceso de solicitud, a ayudar en el control de autobuses, su papel var\u00eda a lo largo del a\u00f1o - todo en apoyo del campamento.<\/p>\n

Aunque no siempre puede ver c\u00f3mo se completa el proceso con todas las familias con las que contacta, uno de sus recuerdos favoritos fue cuando vio un v\u00eddeo sobre un campista y su familia con los que hab\u00eda contactado inicialmente hac\u00eda casi 8 a\u00f1os.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cFue uno de esos momentos. Recuerdo que en aquel momento, cuando entr\u00e9 en su consulta, les di informaci\u00f3n (y en aquel momento se sintieron abrumados), \u00bfqui\u00e9n iba a imaginar que un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s volver\u00edan a ponerse en contacto conmigo y que a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde todo se convertir\u00eda en algo tan impactante? Probablemente sea uno de los mejores recuerdos que tengo. Fueron a\u00f1os de preparaci\u00f3n\u201d.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

A Bethany le encanta ver y conectar con las familias y escuchar a los cuidadores hablar del impacto que Roundup River Ranch tiene en sus campistas.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMe encanta trabajar con este equipo. Siempre me ha impresionado tener un equipo de personas centradas y dedicadas a un trabajo en el que los resultados no siempre son mensurables o visibles, si eso tiene sentido. Que los resultados del campamento sean las sonrisas, las risas, las amistades y las relaciones es algo que se ha investigado, obviamente. Pero no siempre es cuantificable o mensurable. A menudo, se trata simplemente de saber en tu mente que has hecho todo lo posible para influir en esos ni\u00f1os. Una peque\u00f1a pieza en un gran rompecabezas\u201d.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
