When you volunteer with us at our summer camps, you’ll see that for kids with life-altering diagnoses, camp is undeniably, breathtakingly powerful. Here, they meet new friends on similar journeys. They become empowered with a sense of joy and belonging and you’ll get to watch as they become brilliant problem solvers, courageous challenge takers, do-ers of good deeds, and fearless friends. This is the quintessential “camp counselor” role, but with a cabin full of kids who are braver, bolder, funnier and more inspiring than any other campers

Roundup River Ranch is located at 8333 Colorado River Road in Gypsum, CO, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Camp sits at 6,290 feet, and while summer months are warm, the weather can change quickly. Be sure to check the forecast and plan to bring several layers to stay comfortable while you’re here. Specific directions will be provided before your arrival. Onsite, overnight session volunteers will be provided housing from the night of Volunteer Orientation through the last night of the session. Volunteers finish by noon on the last day of the session. Linens are provided for out-of-state volunteers if requested. Toiletries will not be provided. Meals are provided to all onsite volunteers during their camp session and volunteers eat with campers and team members. The last meal served is breakfast on the final day of the session.
A full medical team is present during each onsite camp session; non-medical volunteers are not responsible for the medical care of a camper. Prior to your arrival, “Our Camper’s Special Considerations Manual” will be made available for your review and there will be an overview of the week’s diagnosis during Volunteer Orientation Medical Training. You will always feel well-informed and ready to be an amazing volunteer.
Yes! A typical Summer Camp day is 12-14 hours in length. All Summer Camp volunteers are given one hour off per day. During this time, volunteers are encouraged to focus on self-care and rejuvenation. Volunteers are expected to remain onsite during breaks and throughout their committed session.
