Henry loves to use his imagination. At Roundup River Ranch, he’s watched the imaginary come to life in the creativity that flows throughout camp. He was most excited to see how different the activities were in his second summer experience.
“Every single time I come here, there’s a new experience,” Henry said. “I got to make a potato this year with minifigure legs, so I’d say that’s a win.”
Henry first heard about camp through his mother, who introduced it as an option to accommodate his food allergies and GI issues. At first, he was skeptical. Henry tried other camps before, but explained he’d never been to a place like Roundup River Ranch.
“It’s a camp unlike any other, where you get to connect with other people and try new stuff,” Henry said. “Here it’s like, you do this, you do that, you do this… everywhere! It’s amazing.”
Henry was excited to participate in so many activities every day, the Challenge Course being one of his favorites. One by one, he and the rest of Osprey Cabin climbed the rock wall, wiggled their way across the high ropes course, and soared down the zipline.
But the most special part of the week for Henry was Cabin Night. Staff turned the conference room of DJ’s Junction into “The Club,” which campers could enter for the finest mixed soda drinks and a fun dance-themed program. To Henry, it was like walking into a VIP school dance.
“(The staff) look like security, which is really fun,” Henry recalled. “And then once you’re in there, there’s drinks, and there were so many games you could play.”
Every time Henry comes to camp, he feels the fun all around him. And he’s only seen it grow at what he proudly calls the “best camp experience.”
“The experience I get here is unlike anything that I ever get,” Henry said. “No matter who you are and no matter if you’re going through stuff that’s impacting you, this camp is going to do everything in its power to make you feel like you belong.”
