Londyn has always loved being part of a team. As a competitive softball player, she thrives on the friendships, the laughter, and the sense of belonging just as much as the excitement of winning. So, when she arrived at Roundup River Ranch, it didn’t take long for camp to feel like her new team, one where everyone was cheering each other on.
“I was really scared, and then I got more and more comfortable with my group of people,” she recalled.
After participating in Camp Online for a year, Londyn was nervous to come to Summer Camp onsite. When she saw the cabin leaders and staff that she had grown to know through other camp programs, she felt more at ease. She credited her cabin counselors with creating a safe space for campers.
“Our counselors, if we need to tell them anything, we can. They make us feel comfortable.”
Londyn first heard about Roundup River Ranch four years ago during an asthma appointment with her nurse. After being rushed to the hospital for a severe asthma attack, she noticed a poster about camp – and it immediately sparked her interest. At camp, the special accommodations for her asthma have allowed her to fully enjoy her favorite activities, from soaring high on the zipline to casting her line while enjoying fishing at Rose Lake.
“There’s so many activities,” Londyn said. “But you’re always safe.”
Aside from the cabin activities, she also loves the fun of the carnival, where all campers, staff, and volunteers can participate in activities like water gun fights, paint twister, snow cones, and more! Londyn’s favorite area this year was the dunk tank, because having water poured on her reminded her of her softball days.
“Activities really help you get lost in the magic of camp.”
