Introducing the Spurs Program for Roundup River Ranch Alumni!
The Spurs Program is an exciting 2-week leadership experience, taking place onsite at Roundup River Ranch during Camp Sessions 5 and 6, from July 13-27, 2025. Designed for alumni ages 18-21, this immersive program combines the joy of camp with opportunities to develop leadership skills, foster independence, and step outside your comfort zone.

Housing for the Spurs Program: Spurs will be housed onsite from July 13-27, 2025. Between Sessions 5 and 6, there is a 3-day break when housing is not provided. If you are accepted to the Spurs Program, please plan accordingly for the dates between sessions, July 19-21, 2025.

Eligibility
First of all, put away your wallets. The Spurs Program is FREE!
Participants will be selected based on eligibility and application and interview quality. The process will be competitive as spots are limited. Acceptances are offered on a rolling basis and spots are limited, so apply early! If you are not offered a spot in 2025, you are welcome to reapply in 2026.

Spurs Program Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must be alumni of Roundup River Ranch.
- Spurs must be 18 to 21 years of age for the duration of the 2-week program.
- If selected, participants are required to attend both weeks of the Spurs Program.
- Applicants must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Applicants must be able to perform their own personal care, routine medical care, and self-transfers to-and-from mobility devices.
- Applicants must be socially, physically, and emotionally able and open to participate in group activities.
- Applicants are required to complete an interview. Please note, an interview will not be offered if eligibility criteria are not met.
- After acceptance or waitlist acceptance: ALL background checks must be completed by May 14th.
Registration & Interview Process
Registration will be held on Campsite, the same program for camp and Outreach program applications.
Here are the important application dates for 2025:
- January 3: Spurs Program Applications Open. Interviews and acceptances will be offered on a rolling basis, so apply early!
- March 31: Spurs Program Applications Close
- April 16: Last Day for Interviews
- May 14: Background Check Requirements Due for All Accepted Applicants or Waitlisted Accepted Applicants
Please Note:
- The application MUST be completed before an interview can be booked. After all application materials are submitted, your application will be reviewed. If you meet eligibility criteria, you will be emailed a link to book an interview.
- There are limited spots in the Spurs Program and spots are offered on a rolling basis. Please apply early! If spots are filled, there is still a chance to be accepted onto the waitlist.
- Acceptance into the program or onto the waitlist is not guaranteed and it is based on whether eligibility requirements are met and the quality of the applicant’s application and interview.
- Roundup River Ranch will no longer be requiring the COVID vaccine for all campers, families, Spurs, staff, or volunteers. Because of the population of children we serve, we still strongly and highly recommend the COVID vaccine to protect yourself and our campers. Learn more.
FAQ’s About the Spurs Program
You must be 18-21 years old to attend the Spurs Program.
- Acceptance in the Spurs Program is based on meeting eligibility requirements and a competitive application and interview process. Acceptances and rejections are sent out on a rolling basis, so apply early! If you apply after spots are filled, you can still potentially be accepted onto a waitlist for the Spurs Program. If you are not accepted into the Spurs Program or Waitlist, you are welcome to reapply for next year’s session. Due to the competitive process and limited spots, applicants are selected based on if they are a good fit for the Spurs Program.

We recommend business casual attire with a tidy appearance.
The application for the Spurs Program will open on January 3rd, 2025. The interview will be online, and we will send you a link to book the time for your interview. You must complete all parts of your application and meet eligibility requirements before you are sent an interview link. It will be like a job interview, so we recommend a tidy room with good lighting and business casual attire. Please note, you will not be offered an interview if eligibility requirements are not met.
No, you will not be able to volunteer during the same camp season that you attend the Spurs Program. Some of the goals of the Spurs program are to transition alumni into adulthood and to transition from a camper role to a staff or volunteer role. After completion of the Spurs Program, you will be able to volunteer during next year’s camp season. For example, if you are a Spur in 2025, you will be eligible to volunteer in 2026.
Attending The Spurs Program is not required to volunteer or apply to be summer staff. However, if you are unsure of if you are ready to volunteer/work for camp, or if you want to gain more camp leadership skills, then the Spurs Program is a great transition into these roles.
- Applicants must be alumni of Roundup River Ranch and 18 to 21 years of age for the duration of the 2-week program.

- Accepted participants are required to complete background checks per Colorado Child Care Licensing.
Participants are selected based on eligibility, application, and interview. It is a competitive process since spots are limited. If applicants are offered an interview, they must complete the interview. Please note that interviews are not offered if eligibility requirements are not met.
You can participate in the Spurs Program once. The Spurs Program is a unique opportunity to have camp fun, while also learning new leadership and life skills. One of the goals of the program is to foster the transition into adulthood. Also, if you are unsure of if you are ready to volunteer/work for camp, or if you want to gain more camp leadership skills, then the Spurs Program is a great transition into these roles.
