Medical Minute: Volunteer Teddy and National First Responders Day
October Medical Minute: National First Responder’s Day
Today is National First Responders Day! First Responders are an important part of the Roundup River Ranch community, serving on our Medical Team, volunteering at camp, and helping create safe, medically supported experiences for children with life-altering diagnoses and their families.
For years, Eagle County Paramedic Services has been an incredible partner providing first response training to our Seasonal Staff before campers arrive each summer. We recently sat down with Teddy, an EMT with Eagle County Paramedics and Family Camp Volunteer, to learn why camp is a special place for him.

Having grown up attending summer camp and later serving as a counselor, Teddy was initially drawn to Roundup because it gave him the opportunity to reconnect with the camp experience that he loved.
But what keeps him coming back is seeing the connections and joyful experiences that make Roundup so special.
“I grew up going to summer camp. I was a counselor when I was younger and at first, I just thought I kind of wanted to return to that camp environment and have an opportunity to relive that. But it became clear after getting here that there’s a lot of special things about Roundup that I didn’t expect to find. I think that seeing the ability for kids to connect to each other in ways they might not have in a day-to-day life and getting to be a part of their really joyful, positive experience here has been really special for me as a volunteer.”
At Roundup, we see The Power of Camp every day. Camp creates opportunities for friendship, confidence, and joy, helping children with life-altering diagnoses and their families build lasting memories and discover a community they connect with. Volunteers like Teddy help make those life-changing experiences possible.
Thank you, Teddy, and Eagle County Paramedic Services for your support, dedication, and commitment to our campers and families!
